Control the Controllable and Let the Rest Take Care of Itself
This is often a particular problem in stress management.
We often take on the goals or aspirations of others, when we are either not prepared or equipped to fulfil them. This leads to disappointment and feelings of failure.
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) teaches that you should set yourself goals you want to achieve and are able to achieve, and to recognise where you are going to be unable to affect the outcome.
There is no point aiming for a goal, when you have no control over the result. It wastes your energy and achieves nothing. This ads unnecessary stress and anxiety.
Think about WHY you want to reduce stress.
- You might want to protect your health by reducing stress.
- Prevent premature aging.
- Or maybe you simply want to enjoy your life more and not let stress control and manage you and your life.
Your reason for wanting to change is important. Whatever it is, it is eligible for you.
If your stress management goal comes from you and not someone else it will be easier for you to make a healthy change for good.
